The Story

Clemons S. Duncan, writing as C.S. Duncan, spent 24 years serving in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot trained for all special operations aviation missions. Today, he is widely recognized as a dedicated veteran children’s book author. His career was marked by excellence — he earned the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and the Senior Army Aviator Badge, recognitions that reflect both sustained dedication and courage under demanding conditions.

After his flying career, C.S. Duncan became the lead Aircraft Accident Investigator for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), where he applied his operational expertise to understanding what goes wrong in aviation — and how to prevent it. This analytical discipline carried into his next chapter: teaching. He joined the faculty at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in aeronautics, safety, and accident investigation.

As a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, he also led innovative process improvement initiatives — bringing the same precision-oriented mindset from the cockpit into organizational leadership.

Today, C.S. Duncan channels all of this — the discipline of military service, the analytical rigor of accident investigation, the patience of teaching, and the warmth of family — into a new mission: creating children’s books and educational resources that serve families, teachers, and communities.

His work draws directly from his military background and aviation knowledge to create resources that inspire curiosity, build character, and make learning meaningful for children ages 6–12. Every book, teaching kit, and curriculum he creates reflects a lifetime of service and a commitment to helping others grow.
